Floam

Floam
Is Floam Safe?
FLOAM is safe for children 3 and older. It exceeds all US and European testing standards. Please remember that as with all products, FLOAM play should be supervised. Small objects made of or coated with FLOAM can be a choking hazard.

Can I Reuse It?
FLOAM is designed to be used again and again. Take it out of its container, mold, it mash it, play with it. If you like what you make and want to keep it, let it dry overnight. If you want to reuse your FLOAM put each color back into its container. If you make new colors, you can save them by putting them into a high quality zipper-locked bag.

How Long Does It Take to Dry?
In general, FLOAM dries over night, but does depend on temperature and humidity. The warmer and drier the faster. You can accelerate the rate of drying by placing the FLOAM object in front of a fan, turning it every now and then to ensure that all surfaces are exposed to the breeze.

How Long Will It Last Wet?
If you keep it in its airtight container, FLOAM should last for many months.

How Long Will It Last Dry?
Once dry FLOAMED objects will last for years. However, FLOAM is water soluble, so don't let it get wet.

When I Make a Shape, It Seems to Slump. How Can I Make It Stay?
Floam flows when wet. So round shapes can flatten into discs. It works best in coating a shape. You can use aluminum foil to make a center shape that you then cover.

How do I clean FLOAM from clothes and carpets?

Floam is water-soluble and will wash out of most washable children's clothing and from nylon/polyester carpets with one or two treatments. For best results, clean before FLOAM has dried.

For Clothing: Launders from most clothing with warm water in one or two washes. Scrape off the excess (a plastic spoon works well) and pre-soak in warmest water allowable for clothing type for 15-30 minutes. After soaking, brushing lightly with nylon brush helps. Wash with detergent. Do not use stain and spot removers. Line dry to ensure stain is removed. Repeat if necessary.

For Nylon Carpets and Furniture: Scrape off excess ( a plastic spoon works well). Cover spot with clean wet rag or paper towels that have been soaked in water in order to loosen adhesives. Allow to stand for 15-30 minutes. Scrap off loosened excess and wipe with circular motion. Blot up water and repeat. Two-treatments are usually required. Carpet cleaners are not recommended.

Caution: Floam may stick to or stain fabrics and other surfaces. Avoid contact with hair, carpet, upholstery, walls, and any varnished/unvarnished surfaces.

Laundry and carpet stain removers are not recommended and may set the stain or increase the number of treatments required.

Dry cleaning will not remove.

Sometimes It Doesn't Stick, Is There a Reason?

Some surfaces have a slightly oily or soapy coating that can prevent Floam from sticking. If you can, try washing the surface. In many cases you can find a substitute shape that will work better. If you are coating a vertical surface, sometimes you have to press the FLOAM against the surface for a minute or so.

How and Where Does Floam Work Best?

FLOAM works best when used as a thin coat on other objects like a plastic bottle, an aluminum foil construction, a clay pot, or other surface. See How to FLOAM for lots of ideas and techniques.

What Happens If I Mix The Colors Together?

When you mix FLOAM colors together, you get new colors! See How to FLOAM.
